Eczema Transformation: A 14-Month Journey to Clear Skin 急性湿疹

The successful resolution of the eczema has likely positively impacted the patient’s comfort and self-esteem, considering the distressing nature of facial skin conditions due to their visibility and potential impact on social interactions.

In our report, a 31-year-old female presented with acute oozing eczema persisting for four months. She had a history of childhood mild asthma with no medication history or family atopic history. Throughout the treatment, the patient documented her condition with mobile photographs, creating a visual chronicle that captured the evolution of eczema around her eyes and legs at crucial intervals. Herbal Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) granules were administered and modified periodically based on her condition’s progress, with no Western or other medicines used.

Baseline: The initial image portrays a distressing scene of severe eczema on the eyelids and lower legs. Prominent inflammation, marked by redness, crusting, and an unsettling oozing texture, highlights the substantial impact on the patient’s daily life.

Month 4: A significant improvement is evident after four months. The oozing has visibly decreased, the skin on the lower legs appears less reddish, and the crusting has significantly diminished. While traces of redness and eczema persist, the overall severity has considerably lessened compared to the baseline.

Month 7: In the middle segment of the visual timeline, a notable improvement is evident after seven months. The inflammation has visibly decreased, the skin appears less swollen, and the crusting has significantly diminished. While traces of redness and eczema persist, the overall severity has significantly lessened compared to the baseline.

Month 14: The concluding photograph showcases what can be termed as “complete clearance” at the 14-month mark. The skin around the eyes exudes a healthy appearance, devoid of any discernible signs of past eczema. No redness, swelling, or crusting is apparent, and the skin texture reflects normalcy.

Findings and Summary:

  1. The patient’s eczema around the eyelids has undergone a transformation from severe inflammation, oozing, and crusting at baseline to complete clearance at month 14.
  2. The management plan implemented over the 14 months appears to have been highly effective, particularly for individuals not using immunosuppressants.
  3. The progression suggests a gradual healing process, with significant improvement noted by month 7, ultimately leading to full recovery by month 14.
